Trucks, Tracks, and Tactics: Guest Motor Group's Convoy Adventure

Guest Truck Racing

Guest Motor Group, the UK's largest IVECO truck and van dealer, has highlighted the value of industry events following its recent participation in Convoy in the Park at Donington Park. The company views these gatherings as vital opportunities to connect with the commercial vehicle sector.

The event, which drew over 25,000 visitors, including industry professionals such as drivers, fleet managers and logistics experts, provided an ideal platform for Guest Motor Group to showcase its latest commercial vehicles. The company also displayed working examples on loan from customers, bringing to life real-world applications and success stories.

Through engaging conversations with the event's diverse audience, the Guest team can enrich its industry knowledge and gain extra valuable insights into emerging trends and customer needs. These conversations, covering topics from technological advancements to regulatory changes and the vehicles themselves, play a crucial role in shaping the company's future strategies.

Robert Spittle, Managing Director of Guest Motor Group, said: "By displaying vehicles from our customers' hard-working fleets alongside our own, it gives us an extra talking point and allows the team to further develop meaningful conversations with show visitors about real-world challenges facing commercial vehicles. We're not just observing the market – we're actively participating in its evolution."

Nurturing Collaborative Growth

The display of trucks loaned by key customers' from their hard-working fleets was a highlight of Guest’s presence. This approach not only demonstrates the real-world performance of IVECO vehicles but also underscored the strength of Guest's customer relationships.

Spittle elaborated on this approach: "Our presence at Convoy in the Park is more than just an exhibition. It's a genuine investment in our network of partnerships. By showcasing our customers' operational vehicles, we're not just displaying trucks; we're sharing success stories and fostering a community of mutual growth.

"We're grateful to J T Matthews Roofing Centre, M C Salter & Sons Ltd, R.D. Williams & Sons (Haulage) Ltd, Michael F Merriman & Sons and Brit European for lending their vehicles, ensuring they were in pristine show condition, and most importantly, for their time and effort in participating."

Racing Ahead

Convoy in the Park also featured an exciting racing programme, including the International Truck Prix and the British Truck Racing Championship. Guest Motor Group is proud to have renewed its sponsorship of the Reid Transport racing team for this event. The team is competing in the championship with two specially built IVECO trucks driven by brothers Craig Reid and Simon Reid.

"Our involvement in truck racing is as much about passion as it is strategy," Spittle explained. "Many of our colleagues and customers are motorsport and truck racing enthusiasts, myself included. What better way to support and encourage the sport than by giving our extended Guest family a team to rally behind?"

"Taking part in events like this reflects our commitment to building strong partnerships," Spittle concluded. "By immersing ourselves in the trucking community, we anticipate market changes and adapt our approach accordingly. This forward-thinking attitude ensures we continue to provide value to our customers, not just as a vehicle supplier, but as a long-term partner in their success."
